... where the celtic music frees your spirit to dance!
Celtic Spirit Dancers is the only Irish dance school in Central Newfoundland & Labrador. Opening its doors in May 2008, the school is located in Grand Falls-Windsor, but includes dancers from Badger, Bishop's Falls, Botwood, Norris Arm and other areas in the greater Exploit's region.
With over 60 registered dancers from 4 years old and up, the group enjoys the fun, fitness and challenge steep in Irish dance. Soft shoe (ghillie) & hard shoe dances are taught; beginning first with basic drills & techniques and progressing through reels, jigs, ceili, hornpipes and set dances. More advanced students also learn Irish music tempos and the basics of choreography as well as the opportunity to participate in feis.
All instruction is under the leadership of Sara Sheehan, whose experience as an educator in the post-secondary school system and passion and enthusiasm for Irish dance & music is evident in the operations of the school. From prepared lesson plans and original choreography/theatre to performances and resources, Celtic Spirit Dancers is dedicated to thorough instruction in Irish dance and performance. Equally important is the school's philosophy to treat each other as family by supporting each other in all areas of our life. The end result is a dancer who not only learns to Irish dance but gains the confidence to perform and feels the excitement and energy of the music.
